Well, at least he's not 'Liquid Arm' or 'Gas Arm.'

Secret Stage
Main Page

After I went through all that work to get those 50 Jewels in Illusion of Gaia, I was ready for a reward or something.

Will got something quite different when he gave the Jewels to Gem the Jeweler. The Jeweler took him to a secret stage. It was his home in a dark, creepy mansion. Will had to navigate his way through it, and I couldn't even help him. When he eventually got to the end, he had to face Solid Arm, a monster so powerful it's not even funny! S the Great is going to give a walkthrough inside this grueling stage. I couldn't do it myself, and neither can Will.

Speak for yourself.

All right. I'm going to walk you through this stage so you, the player, can get yourself to Solid Arm. First of all, a warning. This page contains spoilers for Gem the Jeweler's secrets! Don't say I didn't warn you. Now, an explanation.

In Illusion of Gaia, there are 50 Red Jewels. These are special items. When you get them, you're supposed to give them to Gem the Jeweler, a man who collects them. To give Red Jewels to Gem, you either use them as an item or talk to him. For more information on Red Jewels, visit this page. When you get all 50, talk to him and he'll transport you to a secret stage. Remember, you do not have to beat this stage! It's just something for advanced players to do. If you want, just ignore this stage and beat the game. Also, you don't get anything for beating all the enemies. No enhancements. Nothing. All you get is an herb in one of the chests.

This mansion is the special stage. Here, you navigate your way through to meet Gem the Jeweler at the end. The Jeweler will show you his true form, the monster called Solid Arm. Before I get to that, though, I'll show you how to get through the mansion.

In this stage, there are three types of enemies. All three are monsters derived from the monsters of the Diamond Mines.

  • Red Flayzer, who keeps his distance so he can crack you with a whip. Best defeated with Will's Psycho Slider.
  • Green Grundit, a phallic-shaped thing that lives underground. It can make its way to the surface to strike you with projectiles.
  • Purple Eye Stalker, a monster that can turn to stone, making it impossible to hit for a period of time. It can also shoot unblockable lasers from its eye.

Also notice that the map is marked with Roman Numerals. These are the points of interest. Just follow the instructions in order and there should not be a problem. Oh, and here's the second room, with Solid Arm. Both pictures are significantly shrunken. If you want the full-size, unaltered versions, e-mail me. Combined, the files are a little less than 200 kilobytes.

  1. This is the entry point. If you ever want to leave, just go out this door. You'll never see the Jeweler again, and you'll never have the chance, but it's your decision. Now, if you're here to beat this stage, go left.
  2. Beat a Purple Eye Stalker to move forward here. I recommend you kill the other monsters in the area too. You don't want them to stalk you and keep attacking.
  3. These are points for which to watch out. Green Grundits sprout around this area, and these are the places where you can get caught between two. You can block the yellow projectiles with your flute, but you should kill the monsters so they'll stop bothering you.
  4. There is an herb in this chest. It's worth your time to kill the Purple Eye Stalkers to get to it.
  5. I get tons of e-mails about this. Slide under the staircase with the Psycho Slider so you can go forward.
  6. After considerably more monster slaying, you should get to the door. Go on in and meet the Jeweler.
  7. When you get here, listen to what the monster has to say. This is Gem the Jeweler's true form, Solid Arm. He was defeated in Soul Blazer and lost his powers. The Red Jewels are fragments of his powers. He started the slave trade so he could get the Red Jewels. Now that Will got him all 50, he's back to full power. Now, in the spirit of being rejuvenated, he intends for his first defeat to be Will.
I won't lie. This battle is not easy. Here's a picture of Solid Arm.

    Solid Arm

I've only defeated this monster three times in my life. Here's the way that worked for me twice. Get in the back half of the room, with Solid Arm. Go back and forth, repeatedly hitting him with the Psycho Slider. When you're next to him, he won't throw his yellow projectiles at you at all. You'll damage Solid Arm whenever you slide under him while he's walking. When he stops, he'll swing an arm at you. He will usually miss you, but he can hit. Just keep using the Psycho Slider, going back and forth horizontally across the room. This would be the best time to use up any herbs you have.
This battle takes a very long time, but when it ends, Solid Arm's body just goes up in smoke, just like the regular enemies. Then you'll hear a voice. It says that "Blazer was strong, but you are stronger." Then he encourages you to go to the Tower of Babel. You reappear in the Tower of Babel, and Gem the Jeweler disappears from every town on earth.

Even if you lose this battle, you'll just reappear in the Tower of Babel, and Gem the Jeweler will disappear. You get nothing out of beating Solid Arm, except for that herb, but you'll probably use it up fighting him anyway. You don't have to beat this stage to beat the game. It's only worth your time if you want to fight a really challenging battle.
